Shen Study is an interactive study app for Chinese medicine, TCM and acupuncture students, and for practitioners who want to keep their clinical reasoning sharp. It does two things: realistic TCM case practice with structured feedback, and a Chinese herb and formula library you learn through active recall.
Chinese medicine asks you to hold a lot of detail and then use it under pressure. Shen Study is built on a simple idea: understanding grows fastest when you have to use what you know. Cases ask you to connect symptoms, tongue and pulse to a pattern, then carry that logic through treatment principle, points and formula. Herb and formula rounds ask you to recall a property before you see it.
Feedback is written to teach, in a warm and encouraging voice: what supported your answer, what you missed, and what to look at next.
Each teaching case is written by an AI language model from Shen Study's own list of TCM patterns. Before you see it, the server checks the case against that pattern's expected findings, treatment principles, points and formula, and rejects cases that do not match. Your answers are scored against the same answer key.
The library holds 194 single herbs and 109 formulas from Shen Study's curated records, with pinyin, Chinese characters and English names. Quiz questions are built from those same records.
